Vsevolozhsk plant Ford Sollers that produces Ford cars in Leningrad region since July 2002, celebrates its 10th anniversary. At the present time the enterprise produces Ford Focus III and Mondeo sedan.
In 2002 Vsevolozhsk plant Ford became the first producer in Russia of the full cycle that is belonged and controlled by international car company. It was produced more than a half of million of Ford Focus and Ford Mondeo cars for the recent ten years.
As the president and СЕО of Ford Motor Company, Alann Mulalli, remarked, since the day of foundation in 2002 the plant in Vsevolozhsk played important role in the business of Ford Company. And it is an inalienable part of new joint enterprise Ford Sollers today.
“Ford was the earliest explorer ten years ago and it created the precedent of successful strategy of international car producer that conquered Russian market due to the local production organization and we continue to follow this successful way within the joint venture Ford Sollers at the present time”, - added the CEO of Sollers and chairman of board of directors of Ford Sollers, Vadim Shvetsov.
The production in Vsevolozhsk was started in 2002. First costs for investment project were about 150 million dollars, the production capacity started from 25 thousand cars per a year with 600 of workers. The first car was Ford Focus that has been assembled, the leader of Russian car market by sales in C-segment, since 2003. The next step in the history of enterprise was the production start of Ford Focus of the second generation. New Ford Focus pick up the baton of leadership from its predecessor and it was the best buy foreign car 5 times in Russia from 2005 till 2011. Vsevolozhsk plant was a single Ford plant in Europe, which produced this model in four configurations of body: estate car, sedan, five-door and three-door hatchback of the first and the second generation. The production of Mondeo sedan was started from 2009 and the third generation of Ford Focus was launched in 2011. By the present time investments in the production increased to 330 million dollars: it was installed the additional equipment and some technology processes were improved. The production capacity increased 5 times and it reached 125 thousand cars per a year. Staff of workers includes almost 3000 people; more than a half of workers are people who started the work in the plant in 2002 and they have worked for 10 years.
From October of 2011 Vsevolozhsk plant became the part of joint enterprise Ford Sollers Holding. Two other plants, which are also in the joint venture, locate in Tatarstan Republic.
