At the beginning of 2012 it was registered more than 35 million of passenger cars in Russia. The share of foreign cars in parc of passenger cars of Russia was 46,3%, thereby, it increased by 3,3% for the last month. And only five years ago the parc included less than one third of foreign cars – 31,5%. According to the research of regional structure of parc, which was implemented by analytic agency AUTOSTAT, the region that included the highest number of foreign cars in Russia is Primorsk region (the share of foreign cars is 87,0%). The second place is occupied by Sakhalin region (85,0%). Besides Far East regions, among first three leaders we could see Kaliningrad region (83,7%). The TOP-10 with the highest shares of foreign cars in parc includes Khabarovsk territory (82,9%), Kamchatka (76,5%), Jewish Autonomous Region (72,8%) and Magadan region (70,4%).
Moscow is on the eighth place in the rating with the share of 68,4%. Amur region (64,1%) has the ninth place and St. Petersburg closes the row of ten leaders with a share of 64%.
“The anti-leader” by share of foreign cars was Dagestan with a share of 13,9%. Then Chechen Republic (16,6%), Ingushetia (18,5%), North Ossetia (19,8%) and Karachaevo-Cherkessia (20,9%) follow. The TOP-10 of anti-leaders includes Republic of Kalmykia, Kabardino-Balkaria with the same shares of 21,1% and also Ulyanovsk Region (23,4%), Orenburg region (24,8%), the Republic of Mari El (26.0%).
Parc of foreign cars in Far East is the oldest one. The average age of foreign cars here is 16,6 years. The youngest foreign cars are in Moscow – the average age of parc is 5,7 years. The average age of a foreign car in Russia as a whole is 8,4 years.
“Parc of European part of Russia is formed due to the sales of new foreign cars, so the average age of them there is quite small. And parcs of Far East and Siberia were supplemented by LHD used cars from Japan historically. This is the main reason of high age of vehicles there”, - commented Sergey Tselikov, director of analytic agency AUTOSTAT.
