At the same time, in December of 2018, sales of new cars were 158.3 thousand units, which is more by 3.9% than a year ago. As for crossovers and SUVs, their sales in January-December grew by 18.1% in compare with 2017 and they were 729.2 thousand cars. The segment's share in total sales grew by 1.7 percentage points and reached 43.6%.

The market of used cars fell by 12% in Moscow

According to the data of the analytical agency AUTOSTAT, by the results of 6 months of 2019, the market volume of used cars in Moscow amounted to 125.8 thousand units. It is less by 12% than the result of the previous year (143 thousand units).

For the reporting period, Mercedes-Benz became the leader in the secondary market of the capital - from January to June, Muscovites purchased 9,139 of these used cars (-8%). According to agency experts, the German premium brand accounted for 7.3% of the total resale of cars in Moscow for six months.

The second place is occupied by the Korean brand KIA (8531 units; -7%) with a share of 6.8%. By the volume of the secondary market, it was ahead of the domestic LADA brand (8252 units; -20%), the share of which was 6.6%. The TOP-five of market leaders of used cars in Moscow for 6 months of 2019 also included German BMWs (8048 units; -1%) and Volkswagen (7821 units; -10%). Their market shares are 6.4% and 6.2%, respectively.

Thus, these five brands together own exactly one third of the Moscow secondary market.
