In Russia, the market of right-hand drive cars grew by 3%

Analytic agency AUTOSTAT conducted a study of the Russian car market in the first quarter of 2019, which covered the right-hand drive cars and allowed to determine the situation in this market in various districts of the Russian Federation.

According to the results of the study, in January-March of this year, the market volume of right-hand drive cars in Russia reached 131.8 thousand units, which is more by 2.7% than in the same period of 2018. Most of the right-hand drive cars are traditionally sold in the Far East and Siberia, which is largely due to their geographical proximity to Japan, from where such transport is imported to Russia. In total, these two districts have a share of 86% of the whole “right-hand drive" market. In the Far East, during this period, the market grew by 4.3% (up to 62.5 thousand units). In Siberia, an increase was 2,1% (up to 51 thousand units). Experts noted that in January-March of 2019, the market volume of the right-hand drive vehicles grew in 6 of 8 districts. Fall is observed only in the Urals (-7.1%) and the North Caucasus (-4.1%).
