Sales of new luxury cars fell by 19% in the Russian Federation


According to the analytic agency "AUTOSTAT", the volume of the Russian market of luxury cars in the first quarter of 2019 was 269 units, which is less by 18.7% than a year ago. Experts noted that the decline in this market segment has been going on for the third month in a row, and in February and March it has a double-digit figure (below -20%).

The traditional bestseller is the Mercedes-Benz Maybach S-Class: in the first quarter, this model had 46% of the total luxury car market, which in quantitative terms corresponds to 124 units. In the second place with the result of 59 cars, the Bentley brand is located, on the third - Maserati (29 units). With a minimal margin from it, Lamborghini (28 units) is the fourth one. Also in January - February of 2019, 24 new Rolls-Royce cars, 3 - Ferrari and 2 – Aston Martin were bought in Russia.

More than a half of new luxury cars in the first quarter were purchased by residents of the Russian capital (56.5%), which is equivalent to 152 units. Almost every tenth such car received a residence permit in the Moscow region (26 units). In St. Petersburg, this figure was 21 units, in the Krasnodar Territory - 12, in the Sverdlovsk Region - 7, in Tatarstan - 5, and in the Rostov Region - 4. Three such cars went to the Samara and Tomsk Regions. Two new cars of the luxury segment were purchased by residents in 11 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, by one - in other 14 subjects.
