By the end of October, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia grew by 8.2% and they were 160,425 cars. For the ten months of 2018, the Russian car market grew by 14.1% to 1 million 457 thousand 857 cars, according to data of the Association of European Businesses.

As noted in AEB, on the threshold of the last quarter of the year, the Russian car market continued to show the strong growth. However, this pleasant fact did not come as a surprise given the tailwind in the sails of the whole retail sector, counting down the time before VAT changes. Despite the fact that now everything is in order with sales, there is a growing concern among market participants regarding the stability of retail demand starting in January of 2019. Recall, according to the updated AEB forecast, in 2018 the Russian car market could grow by 13% in compare with the last year up to 1.8 million cars.

Leadership in the Russian car market is kept by AvtoVAZ, which sold 32,005 LADA cars in the last month, which is more by 12% than a year ago. The second place in terms of sales was taken by KIA - sales of 21,002 cars (+ 21%) provided the Korean brand with the leadership in the foreign car market. Hyundai keeps the third place with the indicator of 15,820 sold cars, which is more by 1% in compare with the last year. Then Renault follows - cars of this brand were chosen by 12,154 customers (-7%). This time Volkswagen closes the TOP- five of leaders, with sales of 9,928 cars (+ 24%).

According to the results of October, TOP-10 of the best-selling brands also included Toyota (8,424 units, + 14%), Skoda (7,614 units, + 33%), Nissan (7,094 units, + 11%), GAZ (5,457 units, -11%) and Ford (4,398 units, -9%).
