State programs "First / Family car" came to an end

For four months of the implementation of the programs "The First Car" and "Family Car", 85,940 cars were sold on preferential terms. Thus, the target of 80.6 thousand cars set for 2018 is reached and the programs are successfully being completed, reports the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

Recall that the Russian market of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in January-April increased by 20.5% and it was 545 thousand cars. As noted, these results were achieved due to the systemic application of a set of measures of state support to the automotive industry, including through targeted programs of demand stimulation implemented by the Russian government.

The total effect from the implementation of these programs for the same period was more than 106 thousand cars, including: 20 thousand cars under the preferential leasing program, 47 thousand cars under the "Family Car" program and 39 thousand units of equipment under the program "The first car ". Thus, every fifth car in Russia was sold as part of state programs to stimulate demand.

Recall, "The first car" and "Family car" were effective from January 1st, 2018 and assumed the provision of certain borrowers’ categories with discounts of 10% of the price of the car.
According to Ivan Kondratenko, the consultant analyst at Frost & Sullivan, with the completion of state support programs, the growth of the car market will at least slow down in comparison with 2017, and in case of possible deterioration of the economic situation and strengthening of currency volatility, the market will return to the negative trend of 2013-2016. In this case, according to the expert, closer to the end of the year the state can return to stimulating demand, at least not to admit its significant decline. However, additional amounts of funding are likely to be insignificant.

In his turn, the financial analyst of the GC "Avtomir" Alexei Kuzmich notes that the peak of the crisis in the Russian car market is over, and the operative measures to support demand at the state expense are losing their relevance. In these conditions, the government returns to strategic goals, by urging domestic producers to eliminate the technical backlog, and foreign companies to deeper localization and to increase the number of models produced in Russia.
