The Russian car market grew by 14% in March

Sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia grew by 13.9% in March up to 157,279 vehicles. In the first quarter of 2018, the Russian car market grew by 21.7% to 392,920 vehicles, according to the data of the Association of European Businesses.

As noted in the AEB, March, in which the market growth continued at a steady pace, was the 12 month in a period of continuous recovery year on year. From this point on it will be much more difficult, although on the other hand it will be much more valuable for the market, to achieve substantial growth on an ongoing basis. Market participants agree that further growth is the most likely scenario for 2018. The forecast of AEB members is to improve overall sales by about 10% compared to 2017 to 1.75 million units.

Leadership in the Russian car market is held by AVTOVAZ, which sold 30,708 LADA cars in the last month, which is more by 22% than a year ago. The second place in terms of sales was occupied by KIA - the sale of 19096 cars (+ 31%) provided the Korean brand with the leadership in the foreign car market. Hyundai keeps the third line with the figure of 16705 sold cars, which is more by 18% than in the previous year. Further Renault follows - cars of this mark were chosen by 14,047 buyers (+ 25%). The top five of leaders is closed this time by Toyota, whose sales were 8,914 cars (-8%).

The TOP-10 of the best-selling brands included Volkswagen (8631 units, + 24%), Skoda (6483 units, + 34%), Nissan (6402 units, -21%), Mitsubishi (5227 units, the growth of 3.1 times) and Ford (5202 units, + 25%).
