The Russian car market grew by 25% in February

Sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia grew by 24.7% up to 133,177 cars in February. According to the results of the first two months of 2018, the Russian car market grew by 27.5% to 235,641 cars, according to the data of the Association of European Businesses. As noted in the AEB, in February the Russian automotive market continued to demonstrate healthy development, by pushing the continuous series of year-to-year growth to a solid 12 months.

More than 27% improvement for the first two months is an impressive moment for the market, which tired of the bad news that came a year ago. Moving forward, I must say that the market outlook remains positive, but it is reasonable to expect that the recovery when comparing the results year-on-year will be slowed due to the growth of the base, which began in March of the last year, noted the association.

Leadership in the Russian car market is held by AVTOVAZ, which sold 27401 LADA cars in the last month, which is more by 37% than a year ago. The second place in terms of sales was occupied by KIA - the sales of 17,795 cars (+ 44%) provided the Korean brand with leadership in the foreign car market. The third place is kept by Hyundai with the figure of 13,434 sold cars, which is more by 43% compared to the last year. Then Renault follows - cars of this brand were chosen by 11,268 buyers (+ 17%). The fifth largest leader is still Volkswagen, whose sales grew by 11% to 7070 cars.

The top-10 of best-selling brands in February also included Toyota (6522 units, + 3%), Nissan (6306 units, + 19%), Skoda (5907 units, + 39%), Ford (4434 units, + 50%) and GAZ (4,081 units, + 20%).
