Hyundai is studying the possibility of localizing engines at KAMAZ's facilities

KAMAZ was visited by executives and specialists of Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus - the Russian plant of Hyundai Motor Company. During the visit, in particular, negotiations were held on the prospects for cooperation, informed the press service of KAMAZ. Hyundai Motor specialists are dealing with the issue of the production of powertrain components localizing in Russia for the Hyundai model line, which are produced at the holding plant in St. Petersburg.

Within the framework of the visit, potential customers studied the possibilities of mastering the production of engine components and gearboxes in KAMAZ areas. As previously reported "AUTOSTAT", in 2015-2017 the plant updated completely the line of produced cars, further investing in the company more than $ 300 million, which were spent for the modernization of production. Thus, the total investment in the plant project exceeded $ 1 billion today. 

Recall that in August of last year, the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus plant began the production of a compact crossover Hyundai Creta, which, since entering the market, has retained the title of the most popular SUV in Russia. In February of 2017, the company started the production of the Hyundai Solaris sedan of the second generation, in July - the KIA Rio sedan of the fourth generation, and in October - a new cross-hatchback KIA Rio X-Line.

The St. Petersburg Hyundai plant works consistently five days a week in three shifts. The company employs more than 2,200 employees, more than 5,800 employees are employed at Russian plants of auto component suppliers. At the end of 2017, the St. Petersburg plant Hyundai plans to produce 230 thousand cars.
