Localization of Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Classic has reached more than 50%

The company "Mercedes-Benz Rus" has successfully completed the key stage of localization Sprinter Classic. Along with the Russian production of a diesel engine, the localization of production of suspension, exterior and interior parts and stamped body parts allowed to achieve a principal 50% localization. The status "Made in Russia" for Sprinter Classic is confirmed by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, reports the company's press service.

Let's remind, together with "Group GAZ" the company "Mercedes-Benz Rus" makes Sprinter T1N since 2013. The car received new electronic security systems, for example, ESP 9i, transmission, suspension, engine and a new name - Sprinter Classic. In general, absolutely all systems were adapted for operation on Russian roads.

Initially, stamped parts were shipped from abroad. In 2015, both companies launched the production of stamped parts for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Classic and GAZelle Next vehicles on modern automated equipment. Since 2016, new local partners have started the production of  more stamped body parts: all front and interior door panels, side panels, wings and bonnet, as well as the main body power elements. The production of doors and bonnnets is carried out by the GAZ Group.

Since January 2016, Mercedes-Benz Vans has launched a serial production of engines in Yaroslavl with an ecological norm of Euro-5. The new engine is available for all Sprinter Classic models in two power options. In addition, Russia is the only manufacturer that supplies Daimler with components for this engine. The camshaft, cylinder block and cylinder heads are exported from Russia to the Global Logistics Center Mercedes-Benz, which supplies parts to markets around the world. "We are actively working with local partners to offer our customers more individual and attractive solutions. With the launch of the production of Sprinter Classic, the need for quality Russian bodybuilders and suppliers has grown exponentially.

All local partners have undergone rigorous testing, demonstrating the transparency of production processes and the ability to provide consistently high quality products. The way to more than 50% of the location was long and thorny, but thanks to flexible management in conjunction with the "GAZ Group" we step by step achieved the result. Our goal is to offer customers an attractive product - Sprinter Classic and its possible options - at a competitive price. And we will continue to work in this direction, " - said Zoren Heze, the CEO of Mercedes-Benz Vans in Russia.
