PSA Group will establish the production of light commercial vehicles in Uzbekistan


The PSA Group and Uzavtosanoat signed an agreement on the establishment of a joint venture Uzbekistan Peugeot Citroen Automotive to produce light commercial vehicles in Uzbekistan. This partnership is aimed at the construction of a manufacturing enterprise in the Free Industrial Zone "Dgizak", located 200 km from Tashkent. The plant will specialize in the production of light commercial vehicles under the brands Peugeot and Citroen, intended for the transport of passengers and goods. The authorized capital of the joint venture will be 30 million Euros with an equal share distribution. Total investment in the project is about 130 million Euros, the press service of the PSA Group. The production capacity of the enterprise will be up to 16 thousand cars a year, which will be sold both in Uzbekistan and in export markets.

PSA Group will provide new technologies, the right to use intellectual property, build up modern production processes and train employees. The plant will work in accordance with the modern systems of the PSA Group for the management of production, quality, procurement, supply and sales systems. Also, the plans of the joint venture include ensuring the localization level of at least 50% from the first year of production, by attracting local manufacturers of automotive components - about 30 large plants that are owned by Uzavtosanoat and over 160 medium and small enterprises.

"The segment of light commercial vehicles remained today the only undeveloped type of vehicle in Uzbekistan," - said Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC "Uzavtosanoat", Mr. Yusupov Rustam. – “The implementation of this project will make it possible to implement a new qualitative step in the development of the domestic automotive industry. A new joint venture, along with an increase in the employment of the population, will contribute to the further growth of Uzbekistan's industrial production".
