Sales of premium cars fell by 7%

The analytic agency "AUTOSTAT" conducted a survey of the market of new cars in Russia, which covered premium brands. According to the study, the premium segment feels worse than the market as a whole. If we consider the statistics of the AEB, then by the results of 4 months of 2017, sales of premium cars in our country were 42.8 thousand units. This is less by 6.9% than for the same period of the last year (46 thousand units). At the same time, the whole Russian market in January-April shows an increase by 2.6%.

As analysts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" noted, sales in the premium segment were reduced due to a decrease in sales of cars of the leading brands. In particular, at Mercedes-Benz sales of cars for the accounting period were reduced by 12% (up to 11429 units). Audi's fall was even stronger - by 25% (up to 5245 units). Another representative of the "German top-three" - BMW - reduced sales only by 1% (up to 9556 units).

In addition, Lexus (-5% to 6890 units), Land Rover (-11% to 2897 units) and Porsche (-24% to 1211 units) also appeared in the "minus". And such brands as Alfa Romeo and Acura, turned off their official sales of their cars in Russia, although they were still selling them in the last year.

Those premium brands that demonstrate market growth, it is worth mentioning Volvo (+ 26% to 1,662 units) and Infiniti (+ 21% to 1,857 units). But the best sales dynamics was fixed at Jaguar (+ 180% to 832 units). Also sales of smart cars grew more than twice (+ 112% to 146 units). Indicators of MINI (+ 6% to 428 units) and Cadillac (+ 11% to 445 units) look more modest. We should note also the new Genesis brand (242 units), which debuted in the Russian market only in the last autumn.
