KAMAZ will start the assembly of new P6 engines in June

KAMAZ plans to produce 10 prototypes of new P6 engines at the engine plant in June. As the press service of KAMAZ informs, a large amount of work has been done to assemble the new conveyor. There were operations of subassembly of units and parts located outside the conveyor, as well as a line for assembling the cylinder head. Specialists of Thyssen Krause will come to the plant to carry out commissioning. Also it began the assembly of tables for supplying of parts to the zone of conveyor and installation of satellites for transporting the engine along the conveyor.

According to the chief technologist of the project "Tibet" Vladimir Barinov, the satellite is a knot, on which the block of cylinders is installed. "Then this block, on each subsequent operation is covered with new parts that are installed on the engine: the crankshaft, the head of the block, the flywheel, the flywheel housing and others," - he explained. "After the complete turn on the assembly line, the satellite will come out with a ready-made engine that will go to the test station."

At the first stage of the conveyor operation, it is planned to install about 30 satellites, and with the increase of capacities up to 30 thousand engines their number will increase. All work on the line will be maximally informative and visual. The first monitors have already appeared, on which information will be displayed about the process technology, engine number, required and actual torque, etc. Information from the monitors will flock to a single information server.

In addition to the new assembly line, work continues on three more sites. The specialists of Heller company came to the line of the cylinder block to check the quality of manufacturing floors and foundations. In the second half of May, installation of equipment will begin here. Six processing centers are already installed on the line of the cylinder head. The Zeiss measuring machine was also commissioned. It will monitor all parameters of the cylinder head. Q-DAS control system will provide independent control and analysis of the quality of parts manufacturing.

Filling of floors is completed on the line of docking, pre-assembling and painting of engines. The peculiarity of this line is that it is provided not only for new inline engines, but for all other produced KAMAZ and Cummins engines. Equipment has already arrived. Installation will begin in May and it will last about three months.
