The structure of the parc in European and Eastern parts of Russia differs a lot. During the last 15-20 years the car parc in the Far East and Siberia was formed due to the large number of right-hand drive Japanese used cars.
KAMAZ began the assembly of the first serial lot of KAMAZ-5490 Neo mainline tractors. The first orders for the trucks have already been received, and it is expected that 135 cars of this model will be assembled in April, informed the press service of KAMAZ.
As it was noted, the demand for the novelty is justified, as the modernized version of the flagship KAMAZ-5490 takes into account all the wishes of the consumers, operating the KAMAZ trucks of the new generation. According to the chief designer of KAMAZ of perspective cars, Evgenii Makarov, the main emphasis is made on increasing the capacity of fuel tanks. "We developed four Neo configurations: two with automatic gearboxes manufactured by ZF, two with mechanical gears, manufactured by ZF KAMA," - said Evgenii Makarov. – “The car turned out to be a base with a longer base (this is the distance from the front axle to the rear axle), which allows to increase the capacity of the fuel tank from one side to 695 liters, and if you need a second one, the total capacity can reach 1100 liters".
Also Evgenii Makarov noted that it was required to change the layout and a number of characteristics. The larger base, the possibility is greater of redistributing the load on the axis. "By increasing it, we were able to do this by loading the front axle and minimizing the risks of overloading the rear axle, which, as a rule, carries extreme loads. This is very important on our public roads, because for the customer the overload "turns" into fines, " - he stressed. In addition, the desire to maximize the capacity of fuel tanks encouraged designers to develop two more trim levels with the rear location of the battery box (usually it is on the left or, as on new models, on the right side). One of the sides is released - the space can be used for a tank with fuel.
By analyzing not only the "behavior" of the new tractor in operation, but also the features of its service, the specialists have changed structurally a number of nodes. "A slightly different spring suspension is used: now, due to rubber-metal hinges, it does not require periodic maintenance. For the client, it is cheaper in operation, " - explained Evgenii Makarov.
