The structure of the parc in European and Eastern parts of Russia differs a lot. During the last 15-20 years the car parc in the Far East and Siberia was formed due to the large number of right-hand drive Japanese used cars.
According to the analytic agency "AUTOSTAT", as of January 1st, 2017, the parc of vehicles in the territory of the Russian Federation was 49.7 million units.
Approximately 84% of this amount falls on passenger cars, which corresponds to 41.6 million units. Light commercial vehicles have 8% of the total parc, or almost 4 million cars. There are registered a little less of trucks (3.7 million units) in the country, which corresponds to a share of 7.5%. About 1% of the Russian parc is occupied by buses, the number of which was 0.4 million units.
