This is the seventeenth edition of our annual reference book «Automotive market in Russia», covering results of 2018. It contains statistics and analytics on production, sales and vehicle parc in our country.

In 2018 commercial vehicle market (light commercial vehicles, trucks and buses) in Russia came up to 207,000 vehicles, that is 3% more than a year ago.

As for sales of new passenger cars in Russia, their volume has increased by 13.3% up to 1.7 million units. The sales growth of passenger cars caused production growth and impact on the general data of the Russian automotive industry. There were 1.77 million units of vehicles produced in Russian Federation in 2018, which is 13.9% more than in previous year.

The growth of weighted average prices for passenger cars was 18% in Russia for the year

Analytic agency "AUTOSTAT" conducted a survey of average prices for new cars in Russia for the first seven months of 2016. This study included 35 best-selling brands, therewith, the weighted average price by each brand was calculated based on the average values of the recommended prices by the distributor and sales of each model (without breakdown on the modification).

According to a study, in January - July of this year, the weighted average price of new passenger car in Russia was 1 million 356 thousand rubles, which is more by 18% than in the same period of 2015 (1 million 149 thousand rubles).

The price of Land Rover car rose most of all, the weighted average price of which grew by 44%, which is explained by the appearance in the market of more expensive models. It is followed by Audi, whose products became more expensive in average by 28%. The price increase of such brands as Subaru, Lexus, Mitsubishi and Mazda ranged from 22% to 27%. At the same time 15 brands had the growth of weighted average prices in the range from 10 - 20%. Among them there are also domestic brands - LADA and UAZ (+ 17% of each).
