    Sales of new cars in Kazakhstan grew by 10.5% in November up to 4711 units. During the eleven months of 2017, the inhabitants of the republic purchased 41,698 cars and light commercial vehicles - more by 5.9% compared to the same period of the last year.

According to the AEBusiness, by the results of 2016, the Russian car market decreased by 11% to 1 million 425 thousand 721 cars.

The decline in the Russian automotive market, started in 2013, only accelerated in 2014. Last year passenger car sales in Russia were a little more than 2.3 million vehicles – 10% less than a year ago. As for the sales of commercial vehicles (LCV, trucks, buses), during the year they reduced by 18% to almost 240,000 vehicles. As a result the continuing decrease in automotive sales affected vehicle production. In 2014 about 1.9 million vehicles were assembled in Russia, which is 14% less than a year ago. However, the Russian automotive market has not reached its bottom yet. This year the decrease in vehicle sales and production may become even worse than a year ago. The main reason is a negative situation in the Russian economy, which has turned into recession this year. It is well-known that Russia is under pressure of sanctions imposed by the Western countries as a result of geopolitical conflict in Ukraine. We should also add low oil prices which make economy even more vulnerable. If the negative factors persist some hope for the market can come from the state support measures, approved by the government of Russia. First of all, they are prolongation of automotive fleet renewal program, and resumption of car lending rate financing program as from 1 April 2015.

AUTOSTAT specialists traditionally tried to offer you the most exhaustive and qualitative information about the Russian automotive market. Despite the fact that structure of the report has not changed for several years this installment includes more up-to-date information on vehicle parc in Russia. Besides main segments of the parc (passenger cars, LCV, trucks and buses), we also included data for the recent years and brand structure. In 2014 automotiveparc in our country came up to about 49 million vehicles, having increased by more than 3%. Lion’s share (over 80%) of the parc traditionally belongs to passenger cars, which is about 41 million vehicles. LCVs generate 8% of the total volume or almost 4 million vehicles. A little less number (a little more than 3.7 million vehicles) belongs to trucks. About 1% of the parc is formed by buses (about 400,000 vehicles).
