The report “Passenger Car Market in Russia. In 2014 new passenger car sales in Russia came up to 2.34 million vehicles, which is 10.3% less than a year ago. Despite the continuing sales decrease (-15.5%), LADA is still the market leader with 376,800 vehicles. The second place and the leadership among foreign brands in Russia was taken by KIA, which sold 195,700 cars (-1.2%) last year. French Renault moved down to the third place with 191,700 passenger cars – 7.8% less than a year ago. 

Last year companies imported a little more than 610,000 passenger cars to our country, that is a quarter less than a year ago. On average about 51,000 cars were imported to Russia every month. Last year like five years ago the share of new vehicles was not less than 98% of the total import. The leaders here are Japanese Toyota and Nissan and Korean Hyundai, which generate over 35% of the total import together.

According to AUTOSTAT estimation, in 2014 the average price of a passenger car in the Russian market was a little more than $26,000, that is 8.4% or $2,400 less than a year ago. The decrease in dollar prices was registered in all groups of vehicles, and resulted from rouble devaluation.
