Volvo Group Company will open a plant of Volvo Construction Equipment production in May 2013. The CEO of “Volvo Vostok”, Peter Andersson, said about it and he also added that investments in the construction were EUR 41 million. The new enterprise, which will be the seventh production of excavators Volvo in the world, locates in the industrial site “Kaluga South” close to the production of trucks that was opened by Volvo in 2009.

As the press service of Volvo Construction Equipment informed earlier AUTOSTAT, the designed capacity of new plant will be 2,000 excavators a year. It is planned to produce 5 models of excavators in the enterprise: EC210, EC240, EC290, EC360 and EC460. According to Volvo CE, the company would like to locate the maximum of excavator production in Russia but at the same time the localization must meet the level of Volvo by indicators of QDC (Q – quality, D – delivery, C – cost). Volvo Construction Equipment is going to select local suppliers with this principle. Today the company Volvo CE sells the wide model range of excavators in the Russian market, starting from compact models to heavy vehicles for mining.
