Average period of car ownership grew up to 75 months

According to the analytic agency "AUTOSTAT", the average period of car ownership before the first resale grew up to 75 months by the summer of 2019 (6,3 years). Recall that in 2018 the same indicator was equal to 73 months (6.1 years), that is, the terms of ownership of new cars increased by 2 months.

According to the director of the agency "AUTOSTAT", Sergey Tselikov, the increase of car ownership periods in Russia is a completely natural result. “People rarely change cars to new ones, because purchasing power is not growing, and prices for new cars have raised by 60% in average for 5 years. Taking into account the loss of cost, to change a car to a similar new one, a car owner needs to pay 100 - 150% of the price of the current 5- or 6-year-old car,” - he noted.
