Russian car market fell by 3% in June

Sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles fell by 3.3% up to 151,180 cars in Russia in June. For the first six months of 2019, the Russian car market amounted to 828,750 vehicles (-2.4%), according to data from the Association of European Businesses.

As it was noted in AEB, the second quarter has become more difficult than the first. Market expectations for the second half of the year are no better. It is clear that the growth of the market in 2019 is already an unrealistic scenario. Even with a certain positive trend in the second half of the year, the best thing, for which we could hope, is a repetition of last year’s sales result. Earlier, AEB predicted that in 2019 the Russian car market could grow by 3.6% in compare with the last year, up to 1.87 million vehicles.

Leadership in the Russian car market is kept by AvtoVAZ, which sold 30,786 LADA cars in June, which is less by 2% than a year ago. KIA occupied the second place in terms of sales - sales of 19,343 cars (-3%) provided the Korean brand with the leadership in the foreign car market. Hyundai kept the third place with the indicator of 16,331 sold cars, which is less by 1% than in the last year.

Renault is the next - cars of this brand were chosen by 11,944 customers (-12%). The TOP-five of leaders is closed by Volkswagen, sales of which amounted to 9,441 cars (+ 6%). By the end of June, TOP-10 of the best-selling brands also included Toyota (8,548 units, -6%), Skoda (7,054 units, -1%), Ford (6,146 units, + 43%), Nissan (5,450 units, -26%) and GAZ (4,796 units, -10%).
